Waffle

Mom and I went out to Prince Edward during the afternoon, look who we brought home! We named him (or her) Waffle.

Waffle

During our walk I was horrified to so many common snapping turtle hatchlings being sold. I expected to see tanks filled with red eared sliders being sold for cheap, but not snapping turtles! I seriously doubt anyone who buys one of them has any idea what they’ll grow up to be like.

Seeing the way a lot of stores in Hong Kong keep animals and reptiles started to get me a bit down, but I was glad to find at least one store though that actually took care of their creatures. The shop attendants were pretty nice as well, I think they were practising their English with us.

My dad called me earlier, I’m going over to his place on Tuesday. Found out that my stepmom is pregnant again. It’ll be their fifth child together and my dad’s eighth (my stepmom’s Catholic and so doesn’t use any form of birth control). My dad also told me about how he’s gone through with buying the farm in New Zealand and that he’s planning to raise cows and sheep. *sighs* He’s also planning an orchard and a Chinese garden. Only those who have met my family (you there Vicki?) will know how bitterly hilarious this all is!

[Edit] Just got the first assignment for one of my courses back, another 100%. Yay! [/Edit]

Unprovoked update: Retired three themes and recoded the rest (see the last post).

Waffle is a really cool name for a turtle. My cousin CJ used to have a turtle. It bit me. I’m not particularly fond of touching them anymore

wow cute turtles! My cousin has a few turtles, but I’m not sure what kind they are. The Chinese garden sounds cool. I’ve always wanted one, and the sheeplivestock. Although when it comes to ranch animals I’m more of an appreciative onlooker than hands on caretaker Great job on the project!

Hello waffle! Hello Rebecca! it upets me how some pet store owners treat animals like crap, I mean they’re smarter than they’re given credit for… glad waffle came from a nice home, and is going to one :-)btw, how big do snapping turtles get? how long do they live?

…Do I have permission to steal that turtle? Waffle is so cute! But seeing pet stores that neglect the animals is just depressing. Anyway, thanks for commenting on my guestbook.

Aww, hello Waffle! LOL… That seems like a very suitable name for the turtle, given how he’s ‘waffling’ in the water in the pictures.I usually don’t like to step foot in pet stores, as most of them are unfortunately not very good to animals. However, it’s lucky that you came across a good one!…………….Catholics don’t believe in birth control? ………..Okay………you learn something new everyday……

Hey. Waffle is beautiful. I love turtles. I’m glad you found a pet store that took care of their animals and that had employees that were friendly too. I don’t understand why people wouldn’t take care of them. Erg. Yeah you’re probably right about the people that buy the snapping turtles not knowing what they will be like when they grow up. So are you visiting Honk Kong now, and you just decided to buy a little turtle while there? Holy crap about your step mom. I really don’t think that’s right. Does your dad plan things but not follow through with them or something?

Awww! I want a turtle now! Sheesh, with the way that I am going, I will need to move and make my own farm, haha. I know what you mean about some pet stores not taking care of the animals they are selling. Although here in America it’s illegal to have animals in bad conditions, I have found some stores that hold puppys in little glass boxes in a wall It makes me depressed to see them all closed up in such a small area *sniff*

I can’t believe how many pet stores have no clue of animal … care! It can really get you down, but it’s always nice to come across one that actually takes care of the animals well. Congrats on your assignment, and also to your step mom. Take care!

lol I always buy turtles and frogs from pet stores and let them go at ponds. The pet stores down here are just horrible I can’t help wanting to save them. I saw one I let go about 8 years ago last week which was pretty cool. And the farmranch in new zealand sounds nice if it pulls through

What a cute turtle! You’re very right, too many people buy pets they cannot take care of when adult. A crying shame it is. I’m glad you don’t support animal shops who do not take good care of their animals
