The Great Escape

An old pic of the turts, but it’s still one of my favourites.

Waffle and Dorothy #1

I had to clean Waffle’s tank and so I moved him into a smaller tub next to Dorothy’s. Since he loves climbing, I quickly taped a couple sheets of plastic to the sides so that he wouldn’t be able to get out. When I came back the sheets of plastic had been pushed down and he was perched precariously on the tub’s rim. Dorothy was swimming back and forth in front of him, seemingly saying, “What do you think you’re doing, punk?”

Another shot capturing Dorothy’s not-all-too-impressed expression:

Hehe. What a sweetie. Animals – when given the chance the smart ones always seem to try and run

Hey Bec Your turtles are awesome. They look quite big though… that could be because of the close up photography. Do they go back into their shells when u poke them? Anyway… I’ve started up a plain blog (as opposed to maintaining ‘Junkfood’) Waffle looks like a tough cookie

Jenny: No, they’re just ickle babies. Dorothy’s carapace is only 4 – 4 14 inches and Waffle’s is only 2 14 – 2 12 inches (a turtle’s carapce being its ‘top shell’). Well I don’t exactly poke them much, not a very nice thing to do to any creature. Waffle does however let me play with his feet and he enjoys being patted on the head. Dorothy will dive into the water if you try that with her – I only get to touch her when taking her to the feeding tub.

I always enjoy hearing about Waffle and Dorothy’s antics… Good thing you got back in time, though or else who knows where Waffle would have gone off to!
