Tech Support of Doom

Well doesn’t our ISP have the most evil tech support ever. My connection was dreadfully slow last week and right after blogging a couple of days ago it shut down completely.

So we called tech support, talked to them for a while, and gave them all the details, our phone number and address. They said they’d send someone over between 6 and 8 that evening.

The clock ticked away and no one called or arrived. When we rung them to find out where they were, we were told that no one had taken any record of our call. Guess being polite doesn’t get you anywhere, huh? My brother works in tech support in Melbourne, so we’d taken care to be as gracious as possible. With this call though we filed a complaint, and the superior told us that he’d look into it and get back to us. However, I doubt a whole lot will happen.

It’s all fixed now, they sent a man over today (late, of course) and he got things working again. But regardless of my new-found net speed, I remain one very unsatisfied customer!

    Aww, so sorry to hear about that bad experience. I occasionally run into such tech support at times, and not to mention one that yelled at me through the phone when I complained that he was late. Tsktsk…

    Gah I hate having to deal with tech support! I had a heck of a time a few months ago dealing with Dell Support. They were great about sending people out, the guy came three times in four days. But they were horrid about trying to find out about the root of the problem even though I knew what it was – the tech guy told me what it was, to tell them that I needed a new motherboard, blah blah blah. I even had one guy accuse me of not turning off the computer like he told me to but only the monitor!!!!! I’m not an idiot. Sheesh.

    Wow, wonder what was the main problem.. Computers can be evil but tech support people can be worse- if they don’t come like they promised and not very polite..Hope you won’t run into any more problems! Btw, Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your boyfriend. ;-)

    i wouldnt have been so nice either if they said they would show up and then didnt, and then tell you they didnt even have a record of you calling them. they are like that here as well, useless i always say. if you knew anything about computers and internet i think you would get things done alot faster if you did it yourself.

    Oh man, don’t ever get me started on telling you about Kvalito, MTU Link or Telenor. My *previous* isp’s. The one we have now is a bit doozy too, but luckily ShadowXP has the directnumber to everyone working on support, so they don’t get off the hook that easily.I think the most annoying answer in history is “We’ll look into it” when you know they don’t really give a damn.

    Your first clue that something was fishy should have been the fact that they said they’d send someone out on the same day! I don’t know who your service provider is, but around here you’re lucky to get a tech to come out within a week.
