Spider-Man 3

Luckily when I checked the local cinema yesterday there were still four good seats left for Spider-Man 3 at a reasonable time today, so I snapped up two of them for Will and I. It proved to be a good move – I’d never seen such a packed cinema! Not even the dreaded front row had a seat to spare.

Spider-Man 3 was larger, faster, and unfortunately a tad less impressive than its predecessors. Don’t get me wrong though, I wasn’t bored for a second of it. Okay, I lied, I was bored for about 2 minutes and that was Kirsten Dunst’s fault. Man she’s irritating. The rest was good.

Warning: Spoilers ahead!

So now we have one hero who goes a bit bad but returns to good, two bad guys (one of whom isn’t all that bad), and one good guy turned bad turned good again. It went a little overboard, but the story was at worse crowded and definitely not confusing. Bringing in Gwen Stacy was a nice touch, bubbly and fun she was a welcome change of pace to a soggy Mary Jane.

Spidey becoming evil was interesting. The scene that expressed this wonderfully was his second fight with Harry/New Goblin. It was emotionally charged, something I reckon made the first two movies so good and was what was missing when it came to Spidey vs. Venom and Sandman. But what was with the dancing? It was amusing, yes, but also irrelevant and mildly disturbing.

As far as the graphics went, they were absolutely brilliant. The scene where Sandman first rises as a monster was beautiful, how he’d try, then fall apart, then try again. I loved how they did Venom – he looked awesome in full giganto mouth mode. (Unfortunately that view was rare and they showed him mostly with Eddie Brock’s face sticking out.) Oh, and better not forget the scene where Spidey tears off the black suit and the goo slithers down and covers Brock. Gorgeous.

And yay for “‘Nuff said”.

I guess the first was the best one of the serie. It’s about the opposite then the Lord of the Rings.

It looks kinda interesting, would rather watch a comedy. But if this is anything like Fantastic 4, I’d watch it anytime, although it wasn’t a comedy

Like you, Beccary, I like the first sandman scene the most in terms of graphic. I like it enough to give it 3 stars. Judging from the trailers of POTC, however, I think Jack Sparrow will beat Spidey hands down.

I didn’t read the rest of your entry just so I’d still get the thrill of watching the movie this very evening But is it really not as impressive as the previous spidey movies? Well, I’d have to find that out for myself tonight.

Ooh I might be watching it tonight! And why do the damsels in distress always have to be annoying, whiney things? And… There’s dancing? Oh god, I’m REALLY excited now.

I thought this was significantly better than 1 & 2 – much more action, faster-paced, entertaining. Some parts are far-fetched (as you would expect) and under-explained (the black guey stuff), but again – very entertaining. Enjoy!

Mmm… I’m not a gigantic spider man fan, but enough people have said it was interesting or good… so maybe I’ll give it a go And I completely agree that Kirsten Dunst is irritating in these movies. I don’t know what it is… hehe.

I can’t say I’ve loved or hated the Spider Man films but out of the three this is the one I prefer. Some action shots were a little hard to focus on and I did get distracted with the different colour red of Mary Jane’s hair, otherwise it was quite enjoyable.I’m off to see Pirates 3 on it’s opening day and I’m really, really looking forward to it.

Last sunday I went to a marathon in the cinema, all the spidey movies in a row. Really liked it, going to the ‘evil-mode’ was so totally awesome! The only negative point is,… well actually there are 2,… are the facts that after each movie there was a 25 minute break and half way each movie there was a 15 minute break, which caused me to miss the last train 🙁 , the second point is the fact that I (or we all) have to wait until 2009 for Spider-Man 4 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0948470/)

Yes I agree the predecessors were much better than this one, mainly this one was a little too action filled, tried to fit the stories of too many individuals in one. The action was alright, kind of lost its flair from the originals, I think Peter’s learning process was alright, at least they did justice to one of the most important aspects of the film.I didn’t mind Mary Jane in the last two (despite everyone else who thinks she was a little boring) but this one she got to me, the whining, no sympathy at all for her from me. And her going off and kissing Harry was definitely not in my favour. Overall still a good movie, we should all give it credits that the first movie of anything cannot be beaten (apart from Shrek of course)

Ok if you liked Spiderman you’ll love the new Transformers movies. Well the plot is kind of weak but hey its a Transformers movie. Make sure you check it out on a really big screen.
