Smoking Cessation, Round 2

Hours without having a cigarette: 39

I’m now onto my second serious attempt to quit smoking, and doing a lot better than the first. I’m still stressed, busy as hell, stressed (did I say that already?), and obsessively chewing on things, but at least this time I’m not surprised by that.

Good job! My boyfriend quit smoking 5 months ago… he was an obsessive smoker and I don’t really know how he did it… yeah, he gained a few pounds, but lost them already… congratulations!

Good for you, and stay the course. There is do and there is do not… there is no try. I’ve never been there, but my old man did it. And I’ve gotten other pretty scary monkeys off my back. It’s more doable the more you do it.

Good luck to you. I quit smoking on Sunday, so I’m in the same boat of crankiness and restlessness with you. I can’t seem to stop fidgeting and have to have something in my mouth like gum or candy.

EAT A LOT! If you’re going out with friends, tell all your friends to leave their cigarettes/lighters at home to keep you from thinking about SMOKING. If you eat a lot, your mind would be off smoking. =] Take it from someone who HASN’T had any experience.. *cough.

Keep it up! I quit in 1998 when all my friends and family were smokers. They all thought I was crazy. Since I quit, I’ve inspired several friends and family members to quit as well! You’re an inspiration!

Quitting smoking is the easiest thing in the world. I’ve done it thousands of times! What I’m worried about is second hand smoke. My second hand always has a cigarette in it!

Keep going strong! My father died from throat cancer. Was so addicted to smoking. I was with him when he died. I remember thinking how unnecessary it was, and how we were being cheated out of time together because of his addiction.

I stopped smoking myself some 8 months ago and it was my third time. It went a lot easier this time because I oversmaked myself a bit at a party on a saturday (3 packs). After 5-6 days you stop beeing sick (flue like symptoms) and you should be over the worst. Good luck!:)Kim

Try Zyban if you have trouble. (Also called wellbutrin). It’s done the trick for me, and two other people I suggested it to. It makes cigarettes smell and taste like rotten burning flesh, and you feel fuzzy for a few weeks, but it only took 3 months worth of that before I was off of cigarettes for good, after 10 years of smoking!Good luck!
