It’s kind of funny because I was visitng my aunt in Florida shortly after that article was published. She works for the department of environmental conservation and that incident had been much-talked-about down there, but she was surprised that I had heard about it in upstate New York.It was kind of funny because she talked a lot about the pythons while I was down there, mostly about how one goes about killing them. (With a knife of course.) I got the impression that the finding of a dead python was often cause for celebration among the department and such.Valerie: I don’t think a python would be able to kill you that easily. We may be soft and squishy, but we make up for that by being resourceful and often much better equiped than snakes. A sharp stick is probably enough to keep a python from being able to kill you, and a knife certainly is. Alligators are a different story, but the vast majority of the time, alligators couldn’t care less that you even exist. Leave them alone and you’re all set.

Oh. My. Gosh. Now, see, that scares me because… well like what it says at the end of the article, a six foot alligator is one thing, but how easy then would it have been for that snake to eat a human? Most of us aren’t six feet long with sharp tails…
