I am a Cyst Monster

Remember the ganglion that popped up on my wrist last year? It’s still there, sporadically growing and shrinking as always, and now a new one has popped up on my right foot. I thought it was a big mozzie bite at first, but when it didn’t itch or go away for a few weeks I decided to get it checked out.

The first one was somewhat startling (”What the heck is that?!?”), but now that the shock value has worn off I’m thinking aww, crap, not another one. I always say that I’ll do something about the one on my wrist knowing full well I’m too lazy for that, but growing a second one is pretty damn motivating.

So if neither of them show any progress in the next three weeks, Mom will take me to get them removed when she goes on shift duty. I could let her do it at home, but I won’t. She was telling me all about one she aspirated at work and she seemed to be far too gleeful about it. She now calls it “Becca’s fish roe”, because apparently that’s the texture of the stuff inside. Mmm, something I always wanted to know.

I don’t know what that is, and I don’t think I wanna know. But, I hope you can get rid of it, and hopefully they’ll quit coming back. xD

A paramedic I used to work with always got one on the inside of her wrist. She’d drain it, but it would always come back. she had minor surgery to remove it, but it came back again. She had surgery again, and that took care of it. Difficult little buggers!

I second that: I hope it gets better, too, since cysts are not fun.Hi, btw, I’m a random visitor.

Oh dear, another cyst? Better see a doctor quickly. It’s best to get a problem like this sorted out once and for all so that you won’t have to worry about them any longer! And I hope everything gets better. (:

Hi there, I had (have) a ganglion cyst on my wrist…I absolutely hated it….A woman saw it and told me she had on on the back of her hand too and the doctor she went to said to smash it with a hard cover book…she did and hers went away. Well, I did it too and when I did the cyst seemed to pop! It is definately 1/4 of the size it was. I’m sure they would say not to do that but it sure did work and painless.

I had a ganglion removed surgically from my ankle. It didn’t hurt, and I got to watch it being removed, but it did leave a scar. Not sure what procedure you are talking about though. The book thing works but it comes back. Mine never came back after surgery as they removed the entire blob. Good luck

I just (8weeks ago today) had my ganglion removed from my left wrist, I had been ignoring it for 20yrs. It would come and go. I had one on right wrist but it went away. But the left this year got worse and worse, and it was time to do something when could hardley bend my wrist and it pained all the time.It is still hurting after 8 weeks , and I can’t load my wrist at all, but the movement is better. You can see my story at http://www.geoffreysweeney.com/wrist-ganglion-removed
