My phone bills have been pretty high lately due to how much I text, so I went ahead and switched to a more fitting tariff plan. I figured I might as well look for a new phone as well – my Nokia 3120 served me well, but after so many drops and falls it was time for the old girl to retire.
It’s not uncommon for me to walk into a store and find absolutely nothing that I’d consider handing over cash for. Poor Mom and Will had to stand there listening to my typical product responses:
“What do you think of this?”
“I don’t know, it’s kind of ugly.”
“What about this one?”
“I’d like it if it wasn’t so horrible.”
I wouldn’t say I’m a nightmare so much as I’m blatantly honest.
I ended up choosing a Nokia 5300 in grey. I’m pleased with it so far; it’s sturdy, user-friendly, and the music player is nice since I don’t own an MP3 player. I haven’t played with it that much yet, but apparently it should prove impressive. It’s my first camera phone so I can’t rate that, but according to Momsy the picture quality’s great for a mobile.
On the downside the back cover was annoying as hell to open and the default themes were horrendous at best (save for the plain blue Nokia one, which is boring but inoffensive).
Now to start downloading Star Trek addons to turn it into a tricorder…
Ah, my favourite game – how high can your phone bill get!?Your phone is quite nice! Very compact..then again, all phones are nowadays. I seriously need to keep up with phone technologies… Anyhow, those kind of a phone is a no-go for me. I think flip-phones serves me best, because I will always manage to scratch the display (I’m a really messy/careless person).
Oi, we have the same phone (mine is red)! The back cover is a pain to remove, but other than that, I like it a lot. I use it to take quick pics and the music player is very convenient. I also use it to surf the internet every now and then. Pretty much my all-in-one gadget.
oh dear, nokias…..They seem to be good phones in every other country but the UK.heh, I love star trek!
Looks pretty nifty. So far, I love my Motorola Razr phone – tho not quite as techy looking as this gadget!
I have a slide-phone too. At least you can still open it. I don’t know how to open it at all.
wow it looks good! hehe I think I’m like that as well that’s why I don’t want to bring people along while I’m buying something because it could take me hours (ok so that’s a bit exaggerated but you get what I mean )
Ooooh it looks sexy I need a new phone so bad, but I have to hold out until the end of June when our contract’s up because I refuse to pay more than $50 for one (lol).Enjoy the phone!
Ooh, pretty phone! I tend to text a lot too (but never seem to call anyone) so I’m on a plan with free texts. It’s love
That’s a pretty nifty phone. Iuno if I’d buy one of those tho. I like my phones small and PINK!!
Nice phone though I’m not a fan of nokia anymore… but anyways I need a new phone too!
Oooh! That’s my phone too. (: I have it in red, and I am quite happy with it so far. Functionality wise, it’s very decent. Although I am not too fond of the shorter battery life.
Well, I have the same one in red. The back thingy is quite complicated at first but after a couple of times, it is easy to open.Themes? My phone only has the blue boring one. I hope I can find new, “exciting” ones soon…Anyway, I’m pretty satisfied with it, and I have had many phones before. I’ve never been as happy with a phone as with this one. Hope you’ll be too.Have a nice day
Generally Nokia mobiles are the best, imho. I never used 5300 but it seems very nice.
I changed my domain again: pjmommy.comdon’t hate me
You remind me of a friend of mine. She also says “Ew, that’s ugly” to about everything in the store. I thought she was the only one
LOL. Isn’t that Jesse McCartney’s phone in his video for Just So You Know? I think that’s a cool phone.
Hi becca!I just recently got a new phone, too! A Nokia is a smart choice and it’s the most user-friendly phone in the market . I got a 3230 just cause I’m not so into flip or slide phones. I think your 5300 has similar features except that it’s got more memory
A pretty phone I have in mind is Nokia 7360… I love the sleek design because it’s thin and light… Too bad I’m too poor to afford this now…
I wish today’s phones have less features and more spunk, more coolness. But yours looks good though. And you’re right, the default themes were sucky, so I made a few of my own (they’re in the goodies section on my website)
So it’s been 2 weeks… do you still like the phone?Becca replied,Definitely, especially now that I’ve made a few better looking themes for it. And turned it into a tricorder. It basically just hasn’t done anything wrong, so I’m still pleased with it.
hey Guys, i agree the back part in a pain the butt to get off, has anyone managed to get the front off i want to change covers but its not happening
I agree on the backcover part, almost broke the phone in the progress of getting to the battery but i must say i was exspecting a lot more from a giant like nokia, but ok the phone was pretty cheap.the camera is awfull at least comepared with my sony ericsson 750i so now i gotta drag 2 phones around going for a Iphone as soon as it hit the marked here in europe… Mmmm Iphone
Nokia is the best phone
Nokia phones are the best cell phones in the world except for 2 things:They are overpriced! Some of them are VERY BIG! like most of N-Series phones
The iPhone is really much better.
I like this model too because Nokia is always my preferable phones.
i ALSO PREFFER NOKIA
I want it!
i have it and its very cool!
