I don’t usually go for these sort of lists, but just couldn’t resist this tasty morsel I found over at Shelley’s Incoherent Ramblings (who happened to see it at Chickafinty who read it at the BBC).
Foods in bold are ones I have eaten before. Foods in blue are ones that I haven’t tried yet, but would like to. Foods in red are ones that I don’t consider to be ‘food’ are just aren’t going to happen.
Note: As I didn’t discover vegetarianism until I was 13, there are some items that I’ve marked as having eaten but will never touch them again. These are marked with an asterisk *.
- Fresh fish *
- Lobster
- Steak *
- Thai food
- Chinese food (although over here we just call it food of course)
- Ice cream
- Pizza
- Crab * (once when I was 5 and I’ve never eaten a crustacean since)
- Curry
- Prawns
- Moreton Bay Bugs (hold on a sec, no idea what that is so I have to look up a pic… *shrieks girlishly* People eat those? Have I mentioned I have a crustacean phobia?)
- Clam chowder
- Barbecues (and for my fellow veggies, try big fat mushrooms barbecued then smothered with satay sauce )
- Pancakes
- Pasta
- Mussels *
- Cheesecake
- Lamb *
- Cream tea (I love scones, but they’re rich enough for me just by themselves. I don’t think I could stomache them covered in cream and jam.)
- Alligator
- Oysters
- Kangaroo
- Chocolate
- Sandwiches
- Greek food
- Burgers (veggie burgers reign supreme)
- Mexican food
- Squid * (in the form of calamari)
- American diner breakfast
- Salmon *
- Venison
- Guinea pig (why would someone eat a guinea pig?)
- Shark
- Sushi
- Paella
- Barramundi
- Reindeer
- Kebab *
- Scallops
- Australian meat pie *
- Mango
- Durian fruit (no way baby)
- Octopus (I prefer them alive, very fascinating creatures)
- Ribs *
- Roast beef *
- Tapas
- Jerk chicken/pork
- Haggis
- Caviar
- Cornish pasty (if you made me a yummy low-fat vegetarian version)
Venison is yummy My father hunts, and the meal my mom makes out of it is most delectible.
I’m eyeing the chocolate!!!
Lara: Um… Well that has literally just made me stop eating breakfast (yes, breakfast for me is between 11am and 12pm). I like you and all, but seriously, that’s not the politest thing that could’ve been written in a veggie’s blog. Ah well, no worries, those trying to lose weight shouldn’t be pigging out anyway.
Aye, why do you not like durian? Hehe. I am somewhat addicted to that fruit, but my mom says it is ‘heaty’.Quite a lot of food on that lift, I haven’t eaten before too.
Oops. A typo. “List” (not ‘lift’ like what I had written.)Sorry for flooding!!
I didn’t think Kangaroo would be considered food. My first thought “is that even legal?” I think I’ve heard of guinea pigs though, something about South American countries. I don’t remember exactly. Interesting list though, I think I’m in the mood for some of that ice cream.
I’m quite scared by half the things on that list. REINDEER?! Guinea pig???? What in the world? That’s enough to put me off of meat for quite awhile, not that I’ve ever particularly enjoyed meat too much in the first place… (The only reason I’m not a vegetarian is because I wouldn’t be able to keep myself healthy that way…I’m terribly picky and don’t like soy milk or beans or anything that might make up for the lack of meat in my diet.)
hey bec, haven’t talked to you in a while. just stopped by to wish you happy holidays- its been like a year? since you hosted me. thanks a bunch- love ya
Glad to see mexican food is in the top 30 & sad to see that guinea pig is on the list
